Silent Recall is a short film created by Kunkun Visual as an exploration of dynamic storytelling through the integration of 3D animation and AI. This project reflects our commitment to pushing creative boundaries by combining narrative depth with cutting-edge technology.
The film was awarded Non-Commissioned Film of the Year at the CG Architect Awards 2025, making Kunkun Visual the first Southeast Asian studio to win this prestigious title.

Story
Silent Recall tells the story of a man returning to Bromo, retracing memories of Tanatap Sunrise — an architectural landmark where culture and nature once converged. Decades ago, he witnessed the Barong Tengger Fire Dance there, a vivid performance that left an unforgettable mark on his soul.
Now, as he walks through its ruins, fragments of the past resurface — the rhythm, the fire, the spirit. Though the traditions have faded, their essence endures.
Silent Recall is a meditation on memory, cultural legacy, and how the past quietly lives on within us.
Process and Solutions
Silent Recall is a cinematic fusion of CGI and emerging AI technologies. In this project, we combined 3D environments — built entirely in-house — with AI-generated elements, using a greenscreen workflow to seamlessly blend virtual models with human presence.
AI played a key role not only in visuals, but also in crafting the music, voice, and copywriting, enriching the storytelling experience. We also incorporated AI-generated footage to enhance the narrative flow and emotional tone of the film.
Rather than limiting ourselves to traditional CGI or architectural visualization references, we drew inspiration from lifestyle films and brand storytelling — pushing Silent Recall beyond the boundaries of typical archviz work.
